From the Maldives to Bora Bora, adventure islands allow us to discover our zestful, wild side while absorbing the lively landscapes and people surrounding us. But look no further than Bali, our local gem, to experience first-hand a tropical escapade. In this issue, we invited young couple Diaz Hendropriyono and spouse Linda Ratna Nirmala to bask in the beauty of the island. They had the privilege to stay at Samabe Bali Suites and Villas in Nusa Dua, where we did our cover shoot. Perching on the Nusa Dua stretch of cliffs, sporting a dramatic setting, Samabe is one of the most stunning establishments in Bali, boasting 39 luxury suites and seven penthouse private villas. With all the villas featuring uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, the hideaway evokes, to some extent, a Cycladic sense in terms of design and architecture, plus the turquoise blue ocean enhancing the overall tropical ambience.

Still on Bali, we asked our contributor, Samantha Coomber, to create an in-the-know guide to some of the island’s newest places to dine, wine, and club. Check out La Cucciola, an open-sided, double-store thatched establishment with great weekend brunches and cocktails. Or drop by Charlie, a neo-retro Parisian bistro that has created a buzz among foodies and lifestyle connoisseurs alike. Don’t miss our Society Journal section in which you can find the story of HE Yoshinori Katori, the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, on Japan’s spectacular Gifu Prefecture, which abounds with natural wonders, sincere hospitality, and centuries-old traditions. Our good friend, Gina Santoso, explores off-the-beaten-track spots in Bhutan and captures a lot of pictures that speak a thousand words. Last but not least, don’t forget to travel in style and check our Stylebook section: get inspired by the list of items we have to offer here! Read on and happy holidays!
