Celebrating all things culinary this month, Indonesia Tatler is proud to present a cornucopia of mouth-watering treats for your delectation. For starters, we chat with some of the country’s best-known chefs and quiz them about the five things they always ensure they have in stock in their fridges. The answers may surprise you, but one thing that they all have in common is that they rely on freshness and authenticity.

And when it comes to authentic, there’s no tastier dish than the delectable—and inimitable— TV chef Farah Quinn. Wait, did we say TV chef? Well, that’s a bit of an understatement these days since this brainy, no-nonsense go-getter (and finance graduate) is also moving into producing her own range of culinary products and has improving nutritional standards in schools in her sights, too. Farah goes to prove that a modern woman really can have it all: this single mother has the brains, the looks and the drive to achieve.

So it’s fitting, then, that Farah also graces our cover for the issue of Indonesia Tatler that coincides with—and celebrates—Kartini Day. She is the very embodiment of a modern-day Kartini: a strong and independent woman who dares to succeed by maximising her potential and at the same time still holding dear her values.

So that’s the main course of this culinary issue. How about dessert? Well, in our style section, five talented young chefs fittingly grace our fashion section with the latest spring/summer collections of 2016. Meanwhile, as a suitably spicy side dish, May Farida and her friends introduce the amazing concept and menu of Pala Adas, a new Indonesian restaurant in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area north of Jakarta that serves truly traditional fare.

And last but not least, for a post-meal coffee and a little treat, Indonesia Tatler takes great pleasure in congratulating President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo on the arrival of their first grandchild, Jan Ethes Srinarendra, from their eldest son Gibran Rakabuming and spouse Selvi Ananda. Congratulations and best wishes from us, and we hope, from you too.

So, until next time, we hope you have fun and remember: you are what you eat, so choose and eat wisely and healthily!
