Indonesia Tatler April 2018
April showers, sunny outlook
Welcome to April—the fourth issue this year of Indonesia Tatler. The rains are giving way to warmer weather and we are blessed with glorious sunshine on many if not most days. We hope to be your companion in this lovely spring month: your guide to fabulous living and a thought-provoking addition to your daily reading list.
Our cover story this issue focuses on Olla Ramlan and Drg Devya Linda SpBM FISID, who talk about the delicate balancing act between motherhood and career—something that is very dear to my heart. The two also share with us their love of Balenciaga, and we feature the brand in our sensational cover shoot. Elsewhere, “Divine Synergy” shines a spotlight on the magic that happens when a designer interacts with his or her muse. Amanda Hartanto and content creator Ayla Dimitri share with us their love for batik, while Danjyo Hiyoji designers Dana Maulana and Liza Masitha talk about their work with 19-year-old muse Nadia Tjiantoro. Lastly, Nonita Respati and Julie Estelle talk about the symbiotic relationship that drives them to create.
Meanwhile, we talk to a talented youngster who is an example to us all. Faye Simanjuntak was so moved by the plight of the victims of child
sex trafficking and exploitation that she set up her own NGO, Rumah Faye. That was five years ago, and Rumah Faye has since grown into a powerful voice for those affected by this dreadful trade. Read about Faye’s efforts to draw in other youngsters who are passionate about her struggle in “Game Changer”. This issue, we also take a look at the lives and works of the young King and Queen of Bhutan, which is well known as one of the happiest places on Earth, and for your dining pleasure, please do join Nicoline Patricia Malina and Deddy Wigraha (and us!) on a lunch date at the inimitable PASOLA at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place.
That just about wraps up this note for this month. We wish you a happy springtime and our wishes that the April showers give way to a long, hot summer soon. Happy reading!
